Biography
Mallikarjunarao Kasam has completed his PhD from Osmania University, India and postdoctoral studies from UPENN, NYU School of Medicine and from Mayo Clinic Rochester, MN USA. He is the director and Chief Medical Physicist at SMPC LLC, a medical physics consulting service organization. He has published more than 15 papers in reputed journals and has been serving as an editorial board member of reputed journals.
Research Interest
Dr. Mallikarjunarao Kasam research interest includes innovative methodology developments of MRI, MRA, MRV, CT, MRSI, CTP, DTI and fMRI for ischemic stroke, Hemorrhagic stroke and other neurodegenerative diseases/biomarker applications; Volumetric analysis for the regions of ischemic, hematoma and peri-hematomal edema regions in both AIS and ICH strokes; Development of new methodologies for the detection of vasculature abnormalities and for the development of database for NEURO (AIS and ICH), body (PAD and renal arteries) and cardiac applications. Non-invasive estimation of microglia activity through MRI/MRA/MRV in the above pathological tissues;The study of CST damage, and clinical / functional scale correlation etc. after ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes. Mapping of different metabolites for the normal subjects and subjects with Ischemic stroke, Intracerebral Hemorrhage; Developing novel, multinuclear (23Na, 17O, 13C, F19 and 1H) MRI, MRS applications magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopic techniques for early diagnosis and quantification of physiological and functional parameters in pathologies such as ischemic stroke and ICH stroke.
